FOR SALE - 1963 (frame serial number) BSA model B40 "90 Sportsman" single cylinder motorcycle with the B44 441cc engine upgrade. Referred to as the "poor man's Goldstar 500 which had cost twice as much, the B40 with the the B44 engine was still a speed and handling monster on the street and track. Very popular in "Sportsman" club road racing and TT in England, USA, Australia and india. This is a very rare Brit Bike and very a desirable restoration piece to own and ride

I bought it 20 years ago intending to restore it for myself while restoring other owners British, American, German and Italian bikes. But like a carpenter working on other people's projects, I never got to mine other than collecting parts for it. Tank paint was stripped off to be repainted black and chrome

There is about 85% of the parts for this bike included. The rear fender was tossed as a previous owner put on a Japanese unit. I have the original "chopped" front fender with the main top bracket. I've already rebuilt the engine years ago. the buyer will need to finish the oil feed lines. The whole wiring "loom" in good condition is on the box along with some a spare side cover and other frame parts. Sides covers, more frame parts and kick stand and a spare rocker box and are shown in one image. You'll need to find a correct rear fender with brackets, tail light, chain guard, headlight bulb and a Lucas Amp meter for the headlight nacelle. Wassel in the UK sells accurate replica "sausage" style mufflers at a reasonable price. This B40 is sold as is and I have all the bill of sale papers for it - it has not been registered in the California in 25+ years.
